Chris Jagger

Chris Jagger

Chris Jagger has enjoyed a cosmopolitan enough journey through life. He has experienced many vocations working as a journalist, market researcher, actor and spent six months going back-to-basics in a personal homage to assimilate the wisdoms of Indian philosophy in the foothills of the Himalayas. No doubt Chris is a journeyman who has preserved his autonomy away from the glare of the public eye.

Some of Chris’s earliest projects date back to the 1970’s when he cut two records with David Geffen and Billy Gaff that caught the imagination of connoisseur collectors. In the 1980’s he contributed to the Rolling Stones albums ‘Dirty Work’ and ‘Steel Wheels’ and by 1994, he formed his current acoustic band ‘Atcha!’. ‘Atcha’ means ‘OK’ in Hindi, but the truth is that for the past decade the Atcha band have truly excelled themselves, possessing a deft creative repertoire and stage presence that integrates a dexterous blend of organic cross-cultural vibes.

Atcha! play Louisiana Zydeco-Cajun rock in its most authentic form and have recorded a catalogue of vibrant material. In spring 2006 ‘Act Of Faith’ was released on SPV’s Blue label, featuring guest appearances from Dave Gilmour, Billy Jenkins, Sam Brown and brother Mick Jagger.

The album is delivered with a distinctly transatlantic appeal and a mature, relaxed approach, grounded in a high degree of rhythmic dynamism. Chris and the boys have definitely honed a sophisticated offering to complement their previous record ‘Channel Fever,’ continuing the fine song writing partnership between Chris Jagger and Charlie Hart. Chris’s wry wit and command of a diverse palette of musical genres has lead to some fruitful numbers. ‘Got Me Where You Want Me’ featuring Sam Brown is a sassy funky ditty and ‘On The Road,’ could be an anthem for many a troubadour musician’s travels. An unconventional and indeed underrated classic.
